What exactly is it? Is it like people standing still... Or is it inanimate objects?

So pretty much everything I can see that doesn't move, is still life?

Would a rock be still life... Or because it technically isn't alive, and *technically* never has been - would it not be?


like what I mean is, does the word "life" have an impact on the meaning here?

Does it have to be living to be considered still life?

When it comes to the contest, just use your imagination. We keep the themes vague like that so we can see what people come up with.

A still life is a work of art (usually two dimensional) of an arrangement of objects that cannot move.
