Strong enough ?

Hello I just bought my dslr a month ago . It's canon 650D with its lens kit 18-135mm . I like to shoot flowers , nature as well as night views . However do you think my lens and body is good enough ? Or do I need a upgrade on my lens . I was considering the canon 100mm lens due to its ability to reach a low aperture and its price .

Do guide me along if I'm wrong about anything cheers !

Your body should be fine for years, until you reach a level where you feel like it might be holding you back.

Lenses? For Macro, you really do need a dedicated 1:1 macro lens... (I am assuming you mean specifically for Macro since this is in the Macro Forum). Your kit lens is not a true 1:1 (lifesize) macro lens and probably only does 1:3 or 1:4 at max magnification. You will find the Image Quality on a macro lens is much better than the IQ your kit lens has. Not familiar with the Canon lenses (Nikon shooter), but any true Macro Lens will do the job for you.

Thank you very much !! Yeah I was considering a macro lens but I think maybe next month cause I probably would do night shooting this month ! Don't really want to exhaust all my resources at once ! ^~^ try out all the variations first thanks though!!

Look for an old Tamron 90mm 52B lens with Canon mount. Does 1:2 magnification by itself and can do 1:1 with a teleconverter. It's also a beautiful portrait lens. They can be had for about $100-$150 on ebay. Its manual focus but thats what you would use for macro anyway. The image quality can match any new macro lens.
