Stupid Avatar Question

Not worth much time, I suppose...but I should know how to do this. Crikey (!), my avatar is a mess!

I've picked several different photos, reduced, squashed for size and regardless what I do they are all pixelated...horrible. I've made buttons from photos on my web site that look great but I can't seem to get my avatar to look sharp as I've seen others.

What am I doing wrong?

I think you are compressing it too much...setting the quality level too low.

You should be able to get rather small file file sizes by first resizing the image to a rather small size. Then you should only have to set the compression/quality at a moderate level, in order to get the file size down.
