Suggestions for pictures of my elderly mother

I know this is an unusual question, But are there any hints on bringing out the best of an elderly person. Getting ready to leave on a mini vacation with my mother and want to get some great shots of her to give everyone for Christmas. She's 80 and looks great. But I want to bring out her best. It's in the midwest and hopefully the leaves are starting to turn. I hate the word elderly...The closer I get, it's not so elderly:blushing:
I guess this might be another thread...I'm a newbie and still shooting a lot of freebies...but I want my clients to always feel I brought out their best. I'm a chub and am always trying to stand @ an angle to slim down on the pics. What are some suggestions on working with some of us not so lucky...not so perfect people. I'm leaving in a few hours...so a couple of quick replies would be great...kym
