Sunrise pastels, Ballachulish Bridge

Shot this very morning in a display that lasted not much more than a minute the first rays of sunlight touch the distant mountains. Looking down the lower reaches of Loch Leven at the Ballachulish Bridge and the mountains on the far side of Loch Linnhe. By the time the tripod was up I got just this one shot, and this is my best interpretation of my memory of the scene.

Gorgeous. As an aside - I'm glad I didn't have to learn spelling in Scotland.

Beautifully done. It creates a mood that engages the other senses as well: the chilly feel and the crisp smell of morning, the hushed sounds. And for me, anyway, if I'm up that early, I'd sure as heck have the taste of coffee in my mouth

PS did you see the sunset last night? It was awesome but unfortunatley I was driving home from work so no time to capture it.

One of those mornings. The air at sea level was cold and heavy with a few strong gusts, a little higher and there was a fair wind. The clouds were forming over the tops as the wind drove the cool moist air over them.

Lovely shoot. The colors is spot on and the light amazing. The way you uses the light to highlight the peaks, and get the viewers attention. Well composed.

I can see I have to revisit Scotland. Last time I visited, it was grey skies and raining for 14 days

I lived in Scotland for my first 25 years and I can never remember it raining at all. Its a bit like remembering breathing, its there all the time so you dont notice it.
