This is the Oregon coast, and I usually only go when I know the weather has a good chance of cooperating. Still, many times, even when things look good, the sun dips behind a thick cloud layer out at sea and the sunset is a bust. That's what happened this night actually. This is about 30 minutes before the sun technically set, and the last time the sun was visible before being blocked by the lower marine layer.
