I sometimes never know what's going to be said here.....lol......this is a request from mom.......although the image she showed me had the other little boy turned but this little guy was like screw you! and also the baby was a newborn in the image she wanted me to re-create! so this is as good as it got! lol

Well that's why I posted it here!? To ask for C&C I have my c&C on this I am curious to know what your opinion is!

C&C per req: I agree, this does have a rather 'retail fashion-esque' edge to it. I'm not sure I see it as a family image, but the story behind it might change that. From a technical perspective, I wish that you had moved them a bit farther into the composition to make better use of the sides of the road as leading lines, and the bright/blown area of foliage above Dad's head REALLY bothers me, but I do think you've done a good job of working with the dappled light, and overall, I like the scene.

It shows their relative heights and sizes well. I agree with Tirediron that that really bright area behind them is very distracting...it REALLY competes for attention with them. If the mother had some kind of a notion about a shot she wanted and this is close enough to satisfy her, then I suppose it's a good shot, no matter what anybody thinks...she's probably the one who's gonna write out the check...so...you know...

I think its cute! Skin is a little too bright imo. I also wish you would have picked a spot without a bright background since the skin is so light it gets lost against it.

I will never understand why people post such damned small images.
What do you think can be seen when the real subject of the image are 200 pixels high?
Are you paying by the pixel?

They look OOF - but really can't tell
They look blown out - but really can't tell.

One thing that is clear but not obvious - why sooooo much space around them?
There's nothing to be balanced, no obvious artistic reason, just space.
What more do you get with lots of space that you don't get with less?

I think the space looks good, as well as enjoy the way the plants border the image and being able to see the full trail. :O
