I am having a hard time deciding whether or not Tamron lenses are what I'd like to try, so maybe those of you who have used them could tell me your opinion. I've only used Nikkor lenses and don't know how they would compare. I'm really considering getting the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di for my indoor billiards photography as the aperture would really benefit me, considering I need to be far enough back as not to bother the players. Anyone ever use one of these? I'm also having a hard time deciding which of my cameras I really want to keep and which to sell. I've had my Nikon D40 since new, and my Nikon D70 since it had 3,087 snaps. Both have less than 4,000 snaps for sure, and the Tamron lens has an internal focus motor so it won't matter much. Any suggestions? One day I'm thinking I want the internal focus motor but the next I think I have alot of things for my D40 so I should keep it...I'd like to sell em both and get a Nikon D90 eventually, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. :gah:

Good lens as good as my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which has been a workhorse last 3 yrs.

And why not a D90?... D40 body sell $300 + D70 body sell $350 = refrub or used D90.
Picked mine up for $675 used craigslist 4 months ago. Now seeing them for $600-$675 used.

I was hoping to get around those prices for my stuff...My bodies are in great shape and I wanted to sell my 18-55mm lens w/ UV filter with the D40. I'd LOVE to have a D90, I just need to raise the money first...Do you know anyone who might be interested in either or both with books and such?

Tamron 28-75mm is just about the best value for your $$ you can buy. In order to buy a nikon lens in that focal range with the same quality you'd have to spend over $1000.
