Telephoto Zoom lens

[kanu]

I am buying a EOS 550 D with a 50mm prime and i shoot more in telephoto range so I was keen on buying a budget telephoto zoom lens. I would really appreciate if you veterans could suggest me something. I am considering Sigma APO 70-300 or Tamron 70-300mm and also generally shoot in daylight with a telephoto.

Either of those sound good to me. Since you want an inexpensive lens, expect some compromises to image quality like Chromatic Aberration (CA) and soft focus at the extremes of any settings.
