Hello guys,

Last weekend I made some test shots at my home studio, just testing lights and three different backgrounds.
C&C are welcome! :sexywink:

They're great. You could really use a reflector in a couple of them

Not bad at all! In addition to a reflector (Esp. #3) they would all have benefitted from a back/rim/hairlight to provide greater background/subject separation. This is especially important when shooting a dark hair/skin/clothing against a dark background.

Nice, but the huge watermark distracts from the subject

I like #4 the best. Her eyes just draw you in on this one.

The second and third ones don't treat her skin tones very appealingly. I like the first one best, it is most flattering to her, and quite dramatic. The lack of reflector makes this one, in my opinion!

The fifth one I don't get at all. If it's about the hair, then don't cut it off, and light it more appealingly please ;) Also, the orientation is confusing to me. I suppose she's lying down on something white? I can't quite tell, immediately, though.

1) yeah, I'd like a reflector
2) some sort of rim light for the top of her head, like is on the photographer's right of her hair would help. Her eyes seem soft here, especially when compared to how sharp they are in #1.
3) everything i said about #2 applies here as well.
4) watch the spill on to the white chair. gobo it with some gaffer's tape, or maybe use a grid of some sort. if all else fails liberal use of the burn brush in post. I don't like how much shadow is on the darker part of her face. This is where the tiniest bit of fill from close to a camera angle can help from a speedlight with a gridded snoot. You just need to get a touch of light in that dark corner made by her arm and face that's in shadow.
5) as amolitor said, I just don't get this one. I guess it's kind of fun in a way, but it doesn't communicate anything to me at all. it's an unflattering position for her, the light is unflattering, the facial expression is confusing, and I don't get the hand gestures either.
