I've been experimenting with my new-to-me lens this week. Its been terribly breezy around here, so I didn't have much luck (or patience I suppose is more accurate) with any nature shots. None of these were too serious, just testing the limits of the lens.

I am pretty happy with it so far!
I need to master the focus limiter switch. I keep forgetting which mode its in and wondering why it won't focus. ;-)
Its quite HEAVY. I definitely see where an OS lens would be handy in this size, but I am now trying to improve my holding technique.
The "heavy vignetting" that some reviewers complained about doesn't seem to be an issue for me, since I tend to crop pretty wide initially and refine in post.

The DOF here is so different from the ASPC and 200, 1:4 with cropping I was using before. I am thinking about getting an adapter for the sony to gain a little focal plane for this work. I wonder how much I would actually gain....

the bokeh is fantastic on that lens on those portraits.

As the photos show, it's a pretty sweet lens!

^ For sure!

My wish is that Sigma would make a 105mm or a bit longer f2.8 macro in m4/3 mount. I have three Sigmas in m4/3 mount, all of which are very sharp & cost about half of a Native equivalent lens.

It is isn't it? Ive been fawning over the nikon 135 DC ever since I discovered its existance, but it is way out of budget. This comes close enough to satisfy my craving, I think!

So far!! Im sure I will love it more once I have more time with it.
Ahh crap. Ok, now I want one too. You are evil, you know that don't you?

Lol

Great stuff JJ - love the bokeh on that lens.
Evil?! Lets see, Ive been called sweet, sassy, and fickle. My youngest says I am a "big meanie" and my oldest has said once or twice that I am ruining his entire life, but I haven't heard evil before today. Sounds like I am moving up in life! lol

I didn't know sigma made m4/3 lens'. Ive been pretty resistant to 3rd party lenses after I had some tokina/tamron's for my XSI that didn't seem to pair well together. If only I still had the setup to know if it was truly the lens' fault or user error. I suppose I shall never know. This one is definitely not a disappointment so far, and has restored a bit of my faith in 3rd party lens'.

I bet the 150 Sigma macro is a better lens than the 135 DC is. These photos have a really lovely, lovely "look" to them. I bet the Siggy has lower CA levels and is probably sharper at the wide-open setting of f/2.8 and one stop down f/stops. The 135 DC is now a 25 year old design...

The Sigma m4/3 60/2.8 is a nice portrait lens. Here is a sample.

Saw one for sale one the fm forums a couple days ago, but it's just not sharp enough for me to consider. I want nikon to release a new 135mm f2.

Haven't you heard? Bokeh > sharpness. ;-)

That would be pretty sweet!

A very interesting note! I didn't realize the 135 was that old. I assumed it was new-ish since the used price tag is still so high! Then again I have no idea how old any of my lens' are.
