Testing out my new 35mm Lens - C&C Please

Just took some photos with my new 35mm 1.8 Nikon lens in some lower light situations. This one came out pretty good, I think. I'ts a tad blown out in the middle, but I still think it looks okay.


35mm, 4.5/f at 1/50 with a 1600 ISO.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you want critiqued; isn't this simply a test-shot with a new lens?

Just thoughts on general composition, exposure, foucs, etc.

I'm not sure why you have iso up so high it seems like you can compensate it with longer shutter speed

I like how its "blown out" just under the rim.

I set the ISO at 1600 because it was dusk outside, and the 35mm 1.8 AF-S lens doesn't have VR, so I didn't want to use a longer shutter speed. I took some shots at 800, but they were either under exposed or the sharpness suffered from camera shake. Too much coffee maybe?
