Just watching this movie which is a recap of MGM musicals from the 40s-50s.

Favorite Dancer - Eleanor Powell
Favorite couple - Astaire and Rogers (of course)
Favorite combination of beauty and grace - Cyd Charisse

What? You're an Astaire man? No Gene Kelly? Oh Lew, I don't know about this...

Though I will say that one of my favorite dance scenes was Fred Astaire doing the Fourth of July dance with firecrackers in "Holiday Inn." But still, I'm still mesmerized whenever I see Gene Kelly dance. I even remember where I was when I heard he died! (1996, Friday night, The Attic in Pittsburgh, sometime around 6-7 in the evening when I heard.)

At least we agree on Cyd Charisse. Those legs went all the way up.

Gene Kelly is a solo dancer - and thus enjoyable but not mesmerizing, much like Eleanor Powell.
Both powerful, strong, acrobatic.
Fred Astaire is a good partner but he always reminds me of Jiminy Cricket.

Speaking of Fred Astaire, remember that Ginger Rodgers could do all those same steps, only backward and in high heels.

Gene Kelly always had a few partner dances in his movies, but I suppose he is more known as a solo dancer.

She could have been dancing with a mannequin in that scene for as much attention as I paid to her partner.

She is quite stunning, isn't she? I still can't help watching both. Of course, I've seen this movie so many times - sometimes watching only her, sometimes only him, and other times the interplay - that I could probably recreate both their steps fairly accurately

'Notorious' was on TCM before noon today.
Is there anyone who wouldn't fall in love with Ingrid Bergman in that party scene?
