What's new

The baddest Photographers Hat

I wash clothes when they get dirty. Do you wash your car after each time you drive it. You vacuum you carpet after each step you take. Common sense just doesn't seem to be so common any more.

They only replace it if you wash it 'often' but never say how often is enough to keep the warranty valid. They leave themselves an out clause. Be aware of that.
If you can actually wear out a Tilley hat, you're a better man than I, Gunga Din! Mine has been all over the Middle East and many other "warm" climates... I've sweated gallons into, used it to drink from, beat LARGE spiders with, rolled it up and jammed it into whatever piece of luggage I had... I've washed it once or twice in the better part of 20 years, and aside from a few suspicious stains to the fabric, it is exactly as good as it was brand-new. It's hard to think of a hat as an investment, but these are!

I've been wearing Tilley hats since 2005 when I bought a Tilley LTM5 on a visit to the Amana Colonies here in Iowa.
A couple of years later I got a wider brim LTM7 too.

I have two of them. One would I am sure match iron's for treatment and looks. It's my what ever dirty job I am doing now hat and it looks it. If sweat were oil I would be the entire Middle East and Russia combined. :allteeth:

The other one, well lets just say that the "Little Woman" isn't much of a detective. Went in her car somewhere one day. Next day I noticed my Tilly was missing. Asked her to check in her car. Apparently here version of checking was going out into the garage and calling out "Tilley, here Tilley, Tilley, Tilley, Tilley." When the hat didn't answer she told me it wasn't there and to go buy an new hat. I did. Week later we went to go somewhere in her car again and it was there between the passenger seat and the door. :hopelessness:

I was talking about clothes since you said clothes, and a hat is clothing. When did we move to cars and carpeting?

You wash you jacket, sweater, over coat every time you wear it? You send you suit out to be dry cleaned every time after you wear it? It isn't tough, I wash things when they get dirty.

That's "Dr Livingstone, I presume!"

I've been wearing Tilley hats for years. Ever since they removed a little cancer from my left ear and told me it was almost certainly caused by exposure to the sun. And yes, the brim just folds up out of the way when shooting.

Oops, yeah, here
And they are easy to make yourself.

I got tired of turning around my baseball cap so I bought this thing. Pretty cool. Soft enough to bend.
The Tilley T3 Hat:

Nice hat; nice photo. BTW, the Dull Men's Club (no joke) sells a baseball cap with the instruction: brim goes to the front!
