What! It's as clear as any good Tolstoy writing. All kidding aside, I think I see what you were attempting, but I don't think it translated quite the way you wanted. For me, as much as anything, it is the solidity both in darkness and form of the four gateposts which garner my attention far more than the Cathedral for which you intended the eye to tend to as the prime subject. I just can't get past the gates.

Fair enough guys! I think I just put the wrong title on the image. I struggled a bit with it and actually thought about just entering it as untitled but somehow felt that to be inadequate as well. I retrospective that would probably been the wiser choice.

Technically you did a nice job - as far as general scenery it's a nice image. I agree with the others it just lacks a specific focal point, and I agree with you that choosing the cathedral as the name only added to the confusion.

No biggie, though. Were the benches facing each other like this when you happened on the scene? You could have called it "the theology debate" for a grin.

I am just thinking; do we have to focus upon something physical ? Maybe it is the atmosphere of the moment. Maybe the title is important to defuse the need of focusing on an object. How about calling it: "After siesta". Where would be your focus now ? How about something else like: "Apart" ? How that will change the perception of this picture ?

I think the image is about mood and not so much about subject...I like the cathredral behind the trees I even like the gate...keeps us away. I would take out the two benches on the L side and leave it alone.
