haha thanks, they were just taken with my phone. I was going to bring my Yashica with me but glad I didn't! Probably would have ruined it with the amount of rain I walked in.

Howdy Hosers! Well, today started out just dandy! 0530, the tornado sirens start sounding, mostly because someone panicked. There was a storm coming, but NWS and the various weather apps only showed severe storms, no cloud rotations, but there I was, up and at 'em an hour and a half early. Then the storm line hit. 80 mph plus winds, with 88 mph recorded just a few miles north of us. The rain came down so hard that there was no visibility. Then the hail came along to add some percussion to the symphony. When it was all said and done, the force of the wind ripped one of the awning anchors out of the wood and several branches broke off the Bradford pear tree. The trash cans were knocked over, but stayed in the driveway. I guess they didn't want to join all the other trash cans that were gathered half way down the alley... I figured they were just trash talking anyway. Power went off and on a few times during the event, but others weren't so lucky and still don't have power. Tree limbs down everywhere, folks missing deck furniture, and even a couple of pups are reported missing. A few folks reported that the wind pushed the rain water under their doors and into their houses, so there were requests for shop vacs and numbers for good clean-up crews. And we are supposed to have similar weather for the rest of the week. So all y'all who are east of us, it's coming your way.

I miss the walks in the English rain that my mom used to take us on when I was a kid. We went for walks regardless of the weather, and would look for those huge orange slugs that would come out of hiding during the rain.

Rain again yesterday and another brief storm last night, It‘a supposed to rain again tonight. It has cooled down a little.

I got a new toy that will help get the back yard under control: a brush-cutter attachment for the trimmer. Mot heavy enough for the bamboo but should handle the thicker weeds just fine.

I still want a panda for the bamboo.

Yikes, that sounds scary! Glad you’re ok and damage was minimal.

It's nerve-wracking and can be downright scary living through weather like that, when you're not certain of the outcome! Glad you dodged anything worse - and your power stayed on!

For the last few days it has been variably sunny, cloudy, rainy. But mainly the temperature has been cool-ish. It has been cool enough to get a chill if dressed wrong. I guess the only real downer lately is that mostly the flowers are gone now. Peonies have been blooming, and I guess the roses will be starting around now. . . .

Buckets of rain here yesterday. My rain gauge says 5” so I checked the weather site and it says 1.5”. Not sure why my rain gauge seems to be consistently higher than the reported totals. It definitely seemed like way more than 1.5” of rain.

We've discovered that due to our proximity to a water pumping station we don't get prolonged power outages. Apparently they have some protocol that prioritizes keeping this section of the grid up and running.

More rain and a fantastic electrical storm yesterday, but our French drain is having to work overtime to keep the water out of the house. Even more rain forecast for today.

Holy crap! Here's hoping the French drain does its job. Ours has a tiny area that can let in a trail of water in rain like this, but overall is fine. Good luck!

And may I say I just love that welcome mat.
