Hey, hosers. Finally got enough of a break in the weather to install the rails and racks for the kayaks. I tried the soldering iron and heat gun to soften up the spray-in bed liner but no-go, I guess I wasn't getting it hot enough. I ended up going with "rivnuts", a threaded insert that's installed like a pop-rivet. The 12 holes are drilled (four on each side and four across the front of the bed), eight of the rivnuts are installed and one rail is installed. I just need to install the rivnust along the right side and install the front and right rails. Once those arein place, I can start putting the racks together and install those in the rails; attach the risers to the front cross-rail, then install the Kayak racks onto the riser and rear cross rail. We're taking a short break and a quick lunch (getting dizzy bending over to see what I'm doing in the bed, so blood sugar is a bit low). MLW is helping me bolt the rails in, and I'll need her help putting the racks on..
Lunch is done, so back to work. Maybe a snap of this stuff.
