What's new

The Coffee House

Had the crow all day out the back with me while working on the swags base, yeah im kind of worried that he's on his way out. He hasn't done much today or eaten a whole lot, just been sitting with him. He's had plenty of other birds to keep him company so he's not alone, i hope im wrong and he's just a mellow bird but past experience with birds acting the same in the yard they've passed and I've had to bury them.

Birthday camping adventure today, spoiling myself with 3 lamb chops for dinner🤪. The bunnys don't get any🤣...

Had a crackle of 10 cockys, 4 rainbow lorikeets, 4 galahs, 6 bare eyed cockys, 1 spotted dove, flock of sparrows, magpies and the crow over for dinner last evening. A full yard.

Haven't seen the crow this morning. I really hope i do.

Howdy Folks! Autumn seems to arrived in North Texas... again... so, Second Autumn... not to be confused with Second Breakfast...

Based on an earlier discussion, and because I had run out of smoked paprika, I restocked my supply with three heat levels of smoked Spanish paprika, and some Sweet Hungarian paprika. Spanish for the Spanish dishes, and Hungarian for goulash and paprikash... got the recommended brand of the Spanish smoke...

Yesterday I took some of the leftover Capon and made King Ranch Chicken Casserole, and today I am using what is left in Chicken Divan. My secret on the latter is an added teaspoon of mild curry, just enough to add some color and a faint hint of the curry flavor.

Well-stocked!
I like the beef and chicken versions of this stuff over watery tetrapaks or hyper-salty cubes. A little pricey but lasts:

Camping corners done, need to adjust the garden bed now but a need a couple of rocks.

The boys didn't escape nor jump off the roof. Decided to paint the lattice black to fit in with the fencing 👍.

Yes, use that as well, and Osem chicken consommé. I do cheat with a lot of recipes, using cream of whatever soup as a base for different dishes. The divan uses mushroom and chicken. If I’m going to eventually die, I’m going to go out eating and drinking like an Epicurian.., 😁

Thursday is supposed to be sunny. Most days for the last couple of weeks have been no sun at all. Come on Thursday! :)
[I rechecked the weather on Dec 11 and it says Friday's the sunny day. That might have been my mistake, or maybe the forecast changed. Either way, Come on Friday! ]

Interesting lineup of paprika! I'd like a blind tasting of those, since I'm predisposed to not want extra heat or sweet in dishes.

That bittersweet is intriguing, too.

Raining like crazy until a few minutes ago.

So, the game plan for me to turn in stuff is to give it to my boss. He just told me to give it to him at 10:00 on the 27th, when he has his exit interview (we are retiring the same day). So I guess I get the day off, since once I turn in the key card and laptop, I won't be able to get back into my secured office!. I guess I'll go hang out with MLW.

Planning on what will probably be the final beach drive on the 30th.

Its been raining a lot here too. Almost an inch. There are flood watches out, they are worried about the snow melt, especially from the mountains that could cause some significant flooding. People are already preparing getting sandbags and such.

Downpours here. Very windy and have high winds warning 60 mph gusts until 1am.

Stay safe and dry
