Talking to myself in here so last post, there's so much snobbery on this forum with some members. Or is this just how all forums are, hmm.

Happy Hump Day folks! It's sunny and 58F today. Planning my backyard makeover a little at a time. I did a little experiment with CoPilot, and it came out pretty interesting. I asked it for suggestions of flowering vines that do well in Zones 7 and 8, and it gave me a list. Then I decided to refine it, and asked which ones have flowers all summer, so it gave me a smaller list. Then I asked for a refined list that showed pollinator friendly flowers. Smaller list. Then I asked which ones were safe for dogs, since I'd rather not them getting sick eating stuff they should know not to eat but eat anyway. The winner of this exercise? Coral Honeysuckle "Major Wheeler!" So Major Wheeler it is. Will be putting up trellises in places around the yard, as well as something to climb on next to the patio. The idea is to eventually do away with the hummingbird feeder and rely just on those beautiful trumpet shaped flowers. My Rocktrumpet is out because it is toxic. I also found out the Texas-native trumpet vines are toxic to pets. Apparently there is also a bright yellow variant of the Major Wheeler, but haven't found one yet.

Interesting lineup of paprika! I'd like a blind tasting of those, since I'm predisposed to not want extra heat or sweet in dishes.

That bittersweet is intriguing, too.

I think "hot" is relative. I don't think it has all that much heat, but then again I snort ghost peppers, so who am I to judge. Not intentionally, just seems to happen from time to time. For me, heat has to get me to sweat a bit. The smoky flavor and smell are absolutely delicious though, and I already have some thoughts on Spanish inspired chicken and rice dishes.

In other news, we've gone from cold to warm with Monsoon & tornadoes heading back to cold, all in less than a week. After several days of 20 degree weather, came in yesterday after Phoebe's walk to find a tick on her. Calling for temperatures in the 20's again this weekend and 70's on Monday.

Both @SquarePeg and I have Major Wheeler honeysuckle. Mine has only been in the ground for a year, and we were inundated with rain over the summer and it never looked great. I'm hoping for better next year.

OTOH, Sharon's looked phenomenal. It was still blooming in October, I think.

Will be fun to see how yours behaves down there!

Hosers! We woke up to see an overnight snowfall. We had a little squall come over us last night and thought we were done.

Down the street (sorry for the window screen showing). Santa and Rudolf are still standing in the wind gusts!

Aaaaand, it's 14F out there. The sunshine is welcome!

It's still not much snow by our Northern standards - but enough to have the street plowed and get the snowblower after the sidewalks. If it were warmer, the sun would burn it off by the afternoon.

I just spent 3 hours replacing the headlights on my tractor to LED. I had to become a contortionist

They are pretty dang bright! Any bit of extra lighting on a tractor is a good thing.

It's still not much snow by our Northern standards - but enough to have the street plowed and get the snowblower after the sidewalks. If it were warmer, the sun would burn it off by the afternoon.

I'm dreading the coming temperature drops, but for now we are still comfortablish at 60F during the day. I used to enjoy Winter, but not so much now.

Too much weather excitement around here!

We have stayed cold - 18F outside atm - but had beautiful sunshine all day. It helped the roads clear out, at least. Warming up over the weekend enough to bring rain next.
