The Coffee House

I didn't feel any earthquake here in Vermont but others I know did. Maybe I didn't notice.

Hi Hosers! Might get a few inches here overnight. Nothing major being predicted though.

I’m greatly enjoying not working. I’ve been spending time painting, going to the gym, hiking with the dog and doing some house projects. Tonight I’m going to see Complete Unknown. I love a good rock star origin story, especially when the music and actors get such good reviews.

Luckily I have a flat, straight driveway, and the only thing that gives me trouble is the wall of ice and slush from the road plows at the very end of the driveway.

Also, anything less than 5-6 inches just gets left where it is and I drive over it on my snow tires. 😬
My in-laws solved the problem effortlessly for years--Subarus!

MLW talked to lazy Lobster: they felt it but it was so mild they didn't think twice about it. Sounds less than the Mineral, VA quake felt while we were in So MD.

Joking...Besides, drifts don't surrender easily to shovels or punky electric porch blowers..

^ This - drive over them. I figure I'm retired so I don't need to go anywhere, and if I do, I have a 4x4 with AT/
Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake
tires

I have YADA (yet another doctor's appointment) in three weeks, so I'm camping out in MD until that is done, then back north for the Driver's License appointment.

It's exciting to get that new driver's license in another state! Kind of makes it feel very settled, official. Smile for the camera! 📷

At least the cold weather gave us the incentive to work harder on repainting our MB, the hard part is done, only the closet and bath remain, which should go quickly, no heavy furniture to work around. We'll take the opportunity to sort through accumulated clothes and get rid of stuff not used. Got a quote from a mover to move all the furniture to the main level, so we can lay new carpet, then move it back.

I've uploaded a new video to YouTube. This one was recorded on my JVC Picsio pocket camcorder, which has very limited dynamic range and results in a "posterized image. This time I used this characteristic to create a short video with people and traffic looking fairly realistic, but walking through a surreal background. Length: about 3:03

Woke up to the sound of snowplows going by, you know what that means?

Tractor time!

Sorry....I'm enjoying myself :)

Best Chinese New Year wishes to all! Totally crap, blizzardy. squally, snowy weather today--all the better to stay hunkered down with food and drink in the bunker tonight. Baozi, jiaozi(potstickers), and a few experimental dishes ahead.
Massive snow clean-up here and at the family ruin tomorrow. But tonite, it's the ritual eat-a-thon with the crew and a couple fave neighbors. Ganbei!

Man, we lucked out here and watched this system stay well North of us as it approached Ontario and your area. We'd been getting warnings about it for a few days.

It's been partly sunny, definitely windy and above freezing here for the last few days. Even despite last week's bitter cold, the sun has been shining on and off most days. Keeps the spirits up. Snow around here is melting away.

Just a typical January thaw, though. ;) I'll see ya in mid-February when we revert back to winter!

Happy Lunar New Year back at ya! I made a potsticker soup and threw in some mini wontons just to give everyone a little something extra. Sides were fried rice and egg rolls. Year of the snake seems rather appropriate this year for some reason...

Just go easy on the Lao Gan Ma chili crisp...
