What's new

The Coffee House

Well i ended my short lived retirement (9 months) and started back to work at a new place this week. Decided i still have a couple years left in me LOL. Hard to back into the swing of things but nice to get back around some new people etc.

@KJ_North : Good luck with the new gig! I hope you continue to enjoy it. :)

In other weekend news: it's actually above freezing today, hosers! 36°F outside right now, and the skies have been blue and sunny most of the day. One of the cats even went outside (for 5 minutes, but hey - she tried).

Our so-called January thaw.

Thought i would share today was my 1st day being a Mentor through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. The boy i am mentoring (Xzavier) is 9 years old and a great little kid. He came over met my wife, played with our 2 dogs then i took him to McDonalds for lunch. I took a photo while he was playing with the dogs and he helped me edit it for fun.

We both had a great day. Very rewarding knowing you are helping to mold a little mind.

Quite a change at our house, 28f+ difference on my morning walk with Phoebe. On the positive side, we've made good use of our indoor time, painting the master suite. Still have a little bit to go, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Fabulous image! It's great to share your hobby and teach him some editing techniques too. I hope he liked it! You're doing a very worthwhile thing. :icon_thumright:

@snowbear - I hope you and family haven't been impacted by this! Is the new house well away?

@SquarePeg - the impact field shows it dipping towards Boston. Did you feel anything?

Stay safe, everyone.

Heya Hosers! Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good day! Sloppy Joe is simmering on the stove, classic rock hits playing, maybe a little loud... Went to Kroger today to get some ingredients for spinach tortellini soup this week. Will need to go out day of to find some crusty bread, probably from Eatzi's since they have a fantastic bakery. Kroger has eggs, a dozen organic (aren't all eggs organic) eggs from free range chickens, $4.59 a dozen. The egg shortage does not seem to have hit Texas.

I was in the car when it happened and did not feel anything. I know at my daughter’s school. Some people felt it, but she said she was in class and didn’t notice it.

Lazy lobster didn’t say anything. I hadn’t heard about it. I’ll have to look at the USGS site to su how far up it went.

Just checked the USGS “Did You Feel It?” Site and there were reports as far, and further than our place. We’ll just have to wait to hear from Lazy Lobster as to if anything happened there.

Hey Hosers.

January sucks.
(Except for the fact that I FINALLY get proper winter!! 😍 So happy!)

That is all, carry on.

I mean, if you're really worried about your carbon footprint, use electic lawn equipment or even better - a shovel. 😉

If you're just complaining about snow, then just be prepared for the barrage of complaints about summer once the temps hit about 70F around me. :boogie:

Joking...Besides, drifts don't surrender easily to shovels or punky electric porch blowers..

Luckily I have a flat, straight driveway, and the only thing that gives me trouble is the wall of ice and slush from the road plows at the very end of the driveway.

Also, anything less than 5-6 inches just gets left where it is and I drive over it on my snow tires. 😬
