The Coffee House

Well is everyone ready for Super Bowl LIX?? I'm not a really big fan of Pro Football, but since former Alabama QB Jalen Hurts, is playing for the Eagles......Guess we'll force ourselves to watch. LOL DW has the meal and snacks lined up.
I like football. Ended up being an ugly game, the Eagles dominated KC from the start. Tried to give it a chance but by the third quarter it was obvious there would be no miracle comeback.

The Lions had an excellent season, playing well despite all the team injuries, mainly on defense. I was frankly glad when they got knocked out of the playoffs, because you don't win Super Bowl games with no defense. This game is exactly the kind of humiliation I didn't want them to have. No one was going to beat the Eagles this year.

Hiya Folks! Happy Monday! The cold weather likes Texas so much that it came back for another visit. Will have to bring the hibiscus back indoors tomorrow with freezing night temps dropping into the 20's later this week.

Had to take my CR-V Hybrid in to get some work done... a darn rodent, a squirrel I think, chewed up the harness that carries the fuel level sending unit information. Almost $700 bucks! I caught the squirrel in a life trap, had some stern words with it, and let it go (illegal to kill and I'm not driving to the other side of the metroplex just to let it go). I have not seen any squirrels around since then, so maybe the word got out that the old man is cranky. Get off my lawn! And stay out of my car!!

Snow, snow, snow! Looking to get 3" to 6" in DC Metro area tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday. I pulled a half-way decent snow shovel from the MD house to bring up to MLSIL's place; I'll be shoveling.

Lazy lobster advised there is 2 feet in the driveway (and more on the way). They seem to have given themself a case of food poison and was afraid they wouldn't get it cleared for me when I go up next week. I told them not to worry about the driveway ane get better.

I guess I'll stop and pick up the snow blower and a can of gas on the way up.

Another epic snow drop scheduled for Wed-Thurs here in the People's Republic of Ontario. Happily filling up my cold room with beer and plonk before the 13% sales tax holiday ends this weekend. Same goes for books, thankfully. Those go in the library--hah!
Them rodents...

Had several inches of snow yesterday, plowed the drive way. Had more snow this morning...then found out we are suppose to get 12 inches or more later this week. So I went out with the tractor and did some snow removal and moved it around, made space for this upcoming storm. The snow is inching near waist height 😳

There was an old ad for kid's toys that proclaimed "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down", unfortunately it doesn't apply to old men (or women). Sunday afternoon I tripped on the drive, face planting in the gravel. Fortunately I was able to take some of the fall on the knees and hands, but still managed to do a number on the chin. Yesterday I was hurting everywhere, but today it's mainly just soreness. Looks like I'll live to do something stupid another day.😉

Ouch! No fun learning you're less bouncy than before. Slid down my FIL's icy driveway at the family ruin last year. My smart-a$$ frau played ump and yelled "Safe!" when I came to rest. Hope you limber up soon.

True that, it seems like the older I get the slower my reaction time becomes also. In my younger days I probably would have recovered before I hit the ground. Now the brain only registered a problem when the chin hit the ground!

When I was a young Airman, I was at Scott AFB during the Winter, and it was quite icy. I was walking past the headquarters building when a General came out the doors. I threw up a smart salute and at the same time both my feet slid on the ice and I went down backwards, but darn it, I held that salute as I went down. The General returned the salute and promptly turned around and went back inside the building. Life humbles us in a myriad of ways.

MLW did that twice, me once, on exposed pipe in the yard. I cut one flush with ground (has to do with fence gate) but the other (old water meter, maybe?) looks like cast iron. I'm tempted to take a sledge to it.

I've got the snowblower narrowed down to a few models; all are available in the MD area. The lightest one is 220 pounds so I'll probably rent a trailer and take some more furniture with me. It has started snowing here, in MD.

Well a new toy arrived today. I decided to take the plunge for a new lens! Canon RF200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM. It seriously dwarfs my other lens in size. Even my RF100-400 looks small beside it.

Anyways should be fun and my RF1.4 TC works on it making it a 280-1120 if I ever wanted extreme reach. It looks like a SpaceX rocket ship when fully extended.

New toys are always good! You'll have to show us some shots soon.

@cgw - we're getting dumped on from the same system. The good times start tomorrow afternoon and will end...sometime on Thursday. The low temperatures will be back to single digits. Eek!

Absolutely, maybe this weekend i will get a chance. Now that i've gone back to work my time is a little more limited especially during winter when gets dark far too soon.

I feel proud of myself...managed to go for a run two days in a row. 6 miles total this week, hopefully I can double it by Friday!

This guy needs to drop some weight.
