Woke up a little before 05:00 this morning and figured I'd just start the day. Drove to the MD house for the last time, cut the grass, and loaded the lawnmower, line trimmer, a broom, and the big oak knot or burl into the truck for the ride home. I'll use the push mower to trim around the spots that the tractor has trouble getting to, and to handle the steep hill until I get proper ground covers planted.

Thinking about Halloween, it occurred to me that one thing that girls will be looking for is a "Rumi Hair" wig. If it's done right, it might be expensive, assuming someone makes such a thing.

Congrats on the sale! Cash offers usually come in at less than hoped-for amounts because the lenders/red tape are out of the equation. And the closing date can come faster!

I'm sure it's bittersweet to see the place for the last time, but something tells me that you won't be missing all these back and forth trips.

I think I lost the emotional attachment to the place a number of years ago, so I really won't miss it. As far as the 1,060-mile round trips, I figure I have two or three trailer loads left; we still have to get MLSIL's place cleared and sold. She has said, however, that she doesn't want to keep anything but her bedroom suite, and MLW want's her dining room table.

If you mean that they should watch the performance and try to make their own Halloween wigs, I agree, but if you are saying that they should carry around a TV set when they go trick-or-treatings, welllll, I don't think so. . .

It's "Between fall/summer season" in the south, where we run the furnace over night and switch to A/C during the day. Spiders are going crazy spinning webs everywhere in preparation for winter, and fall allergens are abundant.

Our last move, was bittersweet. We'd lived there 25 yrs, the kids grew up there, lots of family memories. After 17 yrs in our current adobe, still like it, but the emotional attachment isn't there.

Those memory palaces are tough to part with. That was decades ago followed by long stretches of nomadism that have thankfully ended. Funny but we still have go-bags packed for no reason now.The crew and I are quite pleased being more hunkered down now. There will be a shift to the nearby family ruin sometime soon but with no comparable trauma or drama.

In between summer and Fall here too. Turned on the heat and may have to switch back to AC during the day.

Set up my xmas backdrop today. I have accessories in marked boxes from previous years and I don't see I need anything new. Save and re-use props. The in the box photos was a hit with the kids last year and this year will just be the backdrop. Hope they aren't expecting anything else. I'll make a few composites.

@CherylL Christmas set ideas are challenging for our little "tween". The attitude flip flops so quick.....do I go with "A Charlie Brown Christmas" theme or "A Nightmare Before Christmas" theme.

Spent a few weekends last fall shooting a pal's Goth daughter, her friends and their assorted BFFs draped over Victorian tombstones and crypts in local cemeteries. Think they moved on, fashion-wise. Black lipstick sales have likely cratered locally. No requests this year...
