I was mowing this summer and I 'found' a subterranean yellow jacket nest, (and they found me) .... I was really ticked off. I mean - after all - if I was mowing your front yard, you would probably thank me ... I was mowing theirs, and they not only didn't seem thankful, they seemed angry! There's no telling with some folks.

I hate yellow jackets; they will build a nest in the middle of a mowed lawn in less than a week. One week you mow just fine the next week you're running for the hills. ^#$%#$

I think I've figured out part of the problems I'm running into lately. If you leave a window with YouTube open in some Tabs and pause the YouTube tabs, then after a while it throws a Commercial out and that re-starts the stream. I have to kill all the open YouTube tabs to stop it from happening. I guess they make money off the ads even if the ads play without anyone watching them. I think I can get around the problem, but it will be very inconvenient for me in the future -- even if it works. Maybe the best answer would be to run two different browsers, so I can shut off YouTube completely unless I'm specifically watching it. This is going to be verrrrry inconvenient.

Install uBlock add-on in Firefox browser. It stops all commercials in Youtube, and all advertisements on all sites.
Its a game changer. FYI, Youtube knows when you are running uBlock but doesn't care until you try to watch hours long movies, then they start telling you to remove the ad blocker. I follow about 50 youtubers who put out 15-20 minute videos and Youtube never complains about watching those with uBlock.

Had our mini split installed for the garage last week, this model is designed for cold climates so it should be interesting how it works throughout winter. I have a propane heater as well that will be used on cold snaps. But so far its been keeping the the garage really comfortable. It will be nice to work on projects in the shop and not have frozen toes or fingers!

The house has been sold! Closing was yesterday afternoon.

I've symbolically removed the Maryland State flag patch from my backpack.



I had a mini celebration: Lazy Lobster and I ordered Thai, then I went up to Acadia NP, hoping to see the aurora. No aurora but many, many stars. I don't recall actually seeing the Milky Way until I moved up here. I can see it from the house, even with the lights from Lewiston & Auburn. I tried shooting to the north, anyway, as sopme have said it will photograph, even if not visible. I got the tripod set up, then found I didn't have the foot on the camera. I did get a couple long exposures by holding the camera on the top of the tripod, but they are junk. Mis-focus (it was jammin dark) and camera movement. I'll hold on to them as an example of what not to do.

Tonight is going to be cloudy in Bar Harbor but Thursday is looking good. Maybe head up before it's dark so I can stage without a flashlight. I'll have to check the aurora predisctions, too, though time at a National Park is always a good time.

@snowbear congratulations. When we built our current house, we still had the old house and payment to deal with. The market had gone soft took a few months to sell, (after cutting price) last one that sold in our neighborhood for a year. The new owners bought it thinking they could flip it for a profit, 18 months later they broke even.

For several years I missed the old house, lots of memories there.

Congrats on the closing! A big load off your mind.

I haven't had a clear and beautiful view of the Milky Way since a trip to Montana, when we looked at it every night. Too much light pollution everywhere else.

Off to a troublesome morning. Woke up at 04:00 and getting a sore throat. I hope it doesn't dfo like last time and end up puttinf me out for a week with a sinus infection. I also found th light switch in the bathroom is bad; the light won't turn off.

MLW said the coffee maker stopped working last week, so she switched to my single-cup Keurig. It's fine but not meant for all day by two or more people. The regular Keurig is in a box on the trailer, just not here. MLW was given a very nice Breville for her retirement but we haven't learned how to use it, yet. Since I'm really not in the mood to go anywhere, I've ordered what I need to replace the switch, and a $30 drip coffee make to get us through the next few days. I'll try to learn the nice system in that time.

I discovered fillable disposable k-cups, and have been using my favorite coffees in them, Tchibo and Dalmayr Prodomo, both German. I also use a pour-over from time to time if I want a richer flavor in the coffee.
