I bought this unit at Wild Birds Unlimited, but can't find it on their website.

So, here ya go:

We just dragged our bird bath to the patio so we could plug it directly into the outside outlet. It just settles to the bottom and the birds don't seem to notice it.

Even dropping to -7°F last night it's going strong! Amazes me how they flock to it, even bathe in it regardless of the temperature!

Warning: it ain't cheap.

I went out with Lazy Lobster this afternoon in spite of the single-digit temps (highest I saw was 5F / -15C) to take some shots at a lighthouse in Midcoast. Definitely going back to explore the park and town some more in Spring.

We are at 22F/-5.6C with 81% humidity. The temps are dropping and the humidity is slowly rising. Raided the freezer and made up Chinese dumplings in Pho broth and egg rolls. Tomorrow it will be a version of guisado de res (Mexican beef stew); it will have a tomato base (think chili) with onions, bell peppers, and carrots, but we are all out of potatoes. Should still be good.

The Spousal Unit stopped at Sprout's on the way home yesterday and scored the last bottle of whole milk, so we have a half gallon. School is canceled for Monday, as anticipated.

Plugging it in would be difficult. I have a few outlets I could use but then won’t be able to see it from the windows to keep an eye on it. I don’t want it on my deck because of the bird poop. Made that mistake with a hummingbird feeder once! Will have to try to figure something out.

The ice wrapped around us top & both sides, but left us clear. All we got was rain, thankfully. Have to wonder if our lakes had enough stored heat to keep us above freezing.

Numbers aside, the latest for us is more along the coast, less to northwest. We are on the edge of the coastal band.
The D750 is set up for interval shooting beginning 2:00 PM, 15 minute intervals for 24 hours. I pulled the D40 out of mothballs for roaming around.

We are going to go topp off the gas tanks on both the truck and the Honda, and I'll take a few boxes and the trash to the transfer station. Other than that, we're going to relax.

I am doing dinner, tonight, so jambalaya and creme brulee for desert; sort of a storm diversion party.

Extension cords with an adapter will work. We returned the adapter we bought since we decided to move it to the deck.

Oddly, there's been virtually no mess on the deck - I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it, and I'm realizing that the deck has stayed remarkably clean. The crazy kids still bathe in it and fling water which can turn into ice pellets, but they usually melt/evaporate.

There are lots of other options out there - good luck!

Yep. Each is about 6-1/2". I figure two, maybe three for effect. I saw a fb post with Moxie cans, which I have, but thought these were better for the deeper stuff.

It’s a chilly Sunday. Started the day at 14F/-10C and has reached near its high for the day at 20F/-6.7C. We had frozen rain most of the night. It looks nice, like snow, but I can walk on it and not leave an impression. The dogs melted little foot impressions with their warm feet.

In other news, I added some new images for the first time in a little while in the underused Pets forum.

So far so good for us, we have about an inch of mostly sleet/snow mix. No ice, yet anyway. We may be just north of the line. DIL is 15 miles north and got mostly snow.

Pity those 30 miles south of us though. Looks like they will get hammered tonight. Weird how the air temp can be 16F and still fine misting rain hit the ground.

Granddaughter #2 got her first sledding injury. Went too fast, couldn't get stopped and went into the woods and damaged a tree with her head. She's fine, just resting with a hot coco and an ice pack on her noggin.
