The front half of the driveway is cleared (as well as I can get it) and the little bit of snow on the porch is swept away. The porch steps closest to the driveway are cleared, as is the little walkway. I ran the blower across the yard to the second porch steps but the steps are iced up so they'll get cleared later. I also cut a path to the garage for when it's time to put the blower away. A lot of ice along the edge of the house; fallout from the roof. Total time, about two hours.

If I had tried it all by shovel I'd either still be out there, or transported to the hospital. I'm done for the day. I'm going do try and finish the Camaro model and take some Abstract Macro shots.

Bringing the blower onto the porch yesterday dad mixed results. It was very convenient but getting it back down the steps was a pain. It's trached, nit wheeled, so it can climb up and down the steps OK, but the angle if a problem, coming daon. I have to back it down, then I'm stooping so low it bothers my back. It will be better when we put in the handicap ramp (someday). I figure I'll need to clear again tomorrow, so for now, it's between the car and the truck, covered with a tarp.

Having a 6 car driveway is great until it snows! It’s done now and it wasn’t that bad but it’s a pita to move the cars around to get it done. We got about 30” of snow where it hadn’t drifted to make it more. Made a nice little race track for Harlie out back and she spent an hour zooming around like a maniac. Refilled the feeders again. So many cardinals and chickadees the past few days. They’re fun to watch.

It’s snowing again now - expecting another 3-6”.

Our favorite deli didn’t open today due to the storm. I was hoping to get some take out sandwiches but instead we had leftovers. Princess made a couple of sourdough baguettes yesterday and they were fantastic toasted with some garlic butter.

Remarkably, despite breathless Environment Canada forecasts, we slipped the punch that decked Toronto and Hamilton on the Lake Ontario shore. Sure it snowed but way short of the "Snowmageddon" depths predicted. Still, it's bloody COLD! Family ruin was deeper but manageable. Problem there is a narrow 19thC street and too many cars that impede city plows.
Still, we survived. Despite objections, I insisted on a "snow day" early start to the cocktail hour. Besides, Amazon just dropped some new Japanese-issue only Blue Note cds. Later...

I went back out to try the frozen bubble thing. Can't see bubbles in photo - they blend in too well. I'll try tomorrow after adding a little food coloring to solution.

MLW is making Chicken Old Ladies on a Bus* and smahed fried potatoes. There are two more creme brulees in the fridge but I'll let MLSIL have them; she really needs to gain about 20 pounds / 9 kgs

* A group of elderly women were discussing the recipe and someone overheard them and jotted it down. Basically barbecued chicken.

I remember the movie, I also remember how back in early 80's driving to the airport with the A/C on in the car, I had a manufacturing deal I was putting together in Minneapolis. I would change clothes in route, as when I got off the plane it was freezing with snow piled high everywhere.

Funny how in the south we tend to overcompensate with the A/C but in the north they over compensate with the heat in buildings.

We had to use AC up here last summer. There is a central unit but previous owners didn't know if it worked, so we brought up the portable units from the MD house (existing window units were trash). The current analog thermostat is heat only, so we'll replace it in the spring with a digital unit, then have Central AC checked out.

I guess we got a couple more inches of snow last night. I'll clear off the cars and re-clear and sand the driveway in a while. I pushed most from the porch with the leaf blower. It took care of all but where we stepped and compacted it yesterday. No need to go anywhere today unless I wander down to the park for some photos.

The GC dropped off the shower pan a while ago but said he has a mess at home to clean up (his sb's auger motor housing broke). I told him to come back tomorrow afternoon or Thursday.
