Yes, she's north of the city IIRC, in the Hudson Valley area, though she still works in the city. She posted something on FB last night; I sent here a PM.

The forcast for the rest of the week is now just 1" to 2" / 2.5cm - 5cm on Friday and a couple of days slightly above freezing.
MLSIL said we don't have to go south until the 5th, so we can wait a few days to take off. We'll be there about two weeks.

17F yesterday morning, 42F this morning and for the first time all winter I've got a cold. Yesterday my nose was running like a water hose, upset stomach from the drainage, and yucky feeling. Loaded up on NyQuill, so far today it's bearable

Hey ya Hosers! We were suffering today with a high of 83F/28C, and of course the A/C kicked in this afternoon. Still running the heat in the early morning to warm up the bathroom, since it is still dipping into the 50s at night. Looks like Winter might be over for us here in North Texas. Looking forward to working in the yard on the weekend and going out for a nice long walk in the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area with my camera.

This past weekend I officially qualified for Medicare, although I only signed up for Part A because I am still working and have great health insurance through my employer. On the down side, Tricare booted me because I didn't sign up for Part B, so I'll live without secondary coverage for the next two years until my DSU qualifies for Medicare. I'm not going to complain, since I still have better coverage than so many folks out there.

We proved this past weekend that fire detectors are programmed to beep at 2AM when the battery needs replacing...

The last 3 days I finally put off what I needed to do for months now. I cleaned up my photos from last year. Deleted the raw and the PSDs mostly. Looked back and I last printed 2 years ago. Went thru each year and copied to a print folder. About 150+ photos. Good thing Mpix is having a sale. Sent that off today. Did back up on 1 HD. I'll take that to my daughter's house to swap out and backup the 2nd HD. Funny how time flies. I thought I did print last year.

58F this morning on the morning walk with Phoebe, with misting rain. I was able to make a good start on my deck railing repair project yesterday until the body said enough. I'd hoped to finish it today but this rain may say otherwise.

Regarding your smoke detector batteries. I am an electrician and I am always amazed at the response I get when I suggest to people to change their smokie batteries, all of them, each year on the same day. I choose New Years day. I have it scheduled in calender on my phone to remind me. I have not had the beeping low battery alert in many, many years due to this simple habit. Most people look at me with daggers in their eyes for suggesting to them they actually be proactive about this, but it sure beats the middle of the night surprise.

How old are your detectors? Old detectors act in strange ways sometimes. Good idea to change them every ten years or so. A low battery alert on one should not activate an audible alarm on all detectors. That, many times, is indicative of faulty alarms that need replacing.
