Landlocked are the only legal salmon; no fishing for sea-run. There are a few lakes with them, not that far from here; I may try once I have a boat (a few years out).

Some of the ducks have been lounging on the dock. Kitty has been watching the chipmunk and crows on the deck.

The Mallard pair that visit us each year are still hanging around. I thought they'd gone off to nest-build and do duck things, but they appeared late afternoon:

They were out there, rambling about for a good three hours or so. Good friends. The cats are totally intimidated by them and give them the run of the place.

In our old house we had a hen and two drakes show up at the feeder, and I ended up putting a kiddie pool out for them, and they made good use of it. Had to dump it out and refill it every few days, but that made great fertilizer for the lawn...

Heyho Folks! It's mid-week and I've been getting ready for my annual journed to Nashville, Lebanon OH, and Richmond VA. The great adventure starts tomorrow. My wonderful DIL is house sitting and taking care of the cats and dogs. First stop will be at Buc-ee's to fill up the car and grab a brisket breakfast burrito.

Here in Dallas the FIFA World Cup has been pretty crazy. I'm loving all of the reels by our British and Scotish guests marveling at the immensity of the state of Texas, as well as the USA. They seem pretty "gobsmacked" at the portion sizes of the meals served in restaurants, and they are not wrong when they point out that a single plate could probably feed a family of three. But Waffle House? Really? C'mon, there is much better than that. The reactions to the high school, university, and NFL stadiums has been pretty funny as well. One of the funniest parody reels was a Scots girl talkng about Americans in the South eating biscuits and gravy, and so she would try them, and put a bunch of oreos on a plate and then smothered them in brown gravy... It's good to see some fun lighthearted stuff in a world where things have been so negative over the past decade or so...

So frozen shoulder isn't enough that I now have vertigo. Got meds yesterday from doctor. Hoping it clears up soon. I want off of this boat. I've been asked by a family friend to take photos this weekend. Her son & daughter are in town.

If I get vertigo, I quickly get nauseated - such a lightweight. It can be very incapacitating. Get well soon!

I have a pair of binoculars I use to look at the birds, both on and off the lake, and to see if anyone in the few boats that come in our little area are catching any fish. Yesterday, I spotted a woodchuck / groundhog along the creek side of the yard. Later, I saw something smaller and brown in the yard but it ran back to cover befor I could get a good look.

This afternoon while I was mowing the back, I spotted a younf 'chuck running down to where the bigger on (I assume Momma) was spotted, so we have at least one young one.

MLW and Lazy Lobster made some strawberry jam this evening. We still have close to three quarts of berries.

Agree a PITA! I have to lay a certain way at night or the room starts spinning. I was having nausea and the meds make it a queasy feeling. I walk like a drunken sailor with sea legs on ground. If I go slow and not move my head fast then it is all bearable.

I decided it was time to buy a box blade for the tractor to help fix my driveway and do some top soil leveling. I went to the dealer to a buy a brand new one, but their inventory was wrong and they didn't have it in stock. But I saw this one, a used one and boy it was WAY, WAY more beefier than the new one I was looking at. They had it since early spring and gave me a good deal on it. So I came home with it!! It was hardly used. When I got home and unloaded it, I started ripping up the driveway with it haha. I need practice, never used one before. But I gotta learn some how!

It's going to be hot this week and a chance of rain and thunderstorms almost every day, so inside projects. I decided to have my first cup of coffee, with a banana and a blueberry muffin, on the deck. I think we will eventually install clear panels.
