Our luck with the heatwave ran out last night. Big storms across SE Michigan knocked out our power around 6:30pm. Thousands without power.

I'm grateful that we made it through the worst of the heatwave, at least. Much more tolerable temps today, just oppressive humidity with no AC.

Let's hear it for 1950s technology!

Battery operated and it moves the air around. Yay!

Power company assures us that most of us will have power restored no later than Monday night. Fridge has been emptied and everything stuffed into 3 coolers of ice. Amazingly, we've had no problems getting bags of ice.

No fun. In my corner of the People's Republic of Ontario, winter outages can be longer and more frequent. We usually camp out at the family ruin where the huge fireplace cooks, bakes, grills and warms while Ontario Hydro sorts things out. Usually battery and powerbank-up in the fall. Summer power-outs are usually 2-4 hrs at most--luckily. Stay cool!

.So sorry, @terri. A cold front is supposed to come through but I don't think it's made it here, yet.

I gave MLW a little break and made some burgers and Mexi-corn on the grill. It is a combo gas & charcoal with a small smoker box and side burner "the "bean cooker").

The town did fireworks yesterday and had a boat parade todsy. I'll catch the parade next year, if I don't participate.

The historic Society senr me a shot of a painting from about where the house is, looking toward Sabattus Mountain; there are a few sheep. They think it was painted in the 1860s or 1870s. I figure I need to get some sheep and a border collie.

I tried a little fishing from the back yard; way too much grass for what I'm using. I need to think about re-learning how to use live bait. The water is fairly clear. I can see the bottom and it appears to be about four-feet deep along the sides of the dock. I saw a few large-ish rocks I may try to grab when the water is lowered for winter. There is a metal pole at the end of the dock, used to keep it in place and not float away. I'm going to paint stripes on it so I can tell the water depth.

I'm using an old rod and reel. I bought the rid in the late 70s and the reel is Dad's Mitchell 308. I have no idea when how old the 308 is but they were made from 1958 to 1986. I'm guessing 60s or 70s. I might go back down this evening with some lighter tackle.

The cold front is coming through here today; it's going to be 10 degrees cooler than the past 3 days. It's only going to be 93. lol Yep, that's 10 degrees cooler.

Forecast is for rain most of the week. Hope it pans out we need the rain. Temps in the low-mid 80s won't hurt after the triple digit stuff last week.

It's hot but it's supposed to cool a bit tonight. We turned on the A/C units and I decided to stay indoors. Still, it's better than down south.

@nerwin: something popped up in one of my social feeds about a "Trout" parade in Burlington. Know anything about that? I'm just curious.

Power restored last night. A mad scramble to clean out the fridge, place everything that made it through 3 days of storage on ice back into the fridge, and dump all the ice. Didn't lose too much.

Now it's all about running the dishwasher and getting caught up on laundry. Yay!!

Glad the temperature has stabilized and we're out of sweltering heat.

If I get vertigo, I quickly get nauseated - such a lightweight. It can be very incapacitating. Get well soon!

So frozen shoulder isn't enough that I now have vertigo. Got meds yesterday from doctor. Hoping it clears up soon. I want off of this boat. I've been asked by a family friend to take photos this weekend. Her son & daughter are in town.

Howdy Folks! We are back from our annual road trip to Nashville, Cincinnati, and Richmond VA. Took the camera, but not much in the way of photos… too many family activities. We were inside almost the entire time because the hear and humidity were pretty oppressive. Even the Smokies and the Blue Ridge Mountains were unpleasantly hot. We spent the 4th with my inlaws in Mt Juliette, but stayed inside. Actually found a great little Mexican restaurant in Mt Juliet that passed the Texas test, and will visit there again the next time we go that way.

Here the fam and extended family, I’m fourth on the right with the hat. We went to the Galaxy Diner in Carytown, Richmond and had some decent food and refuge from the oppressive heat and humidity. Yes, we’re MiB… Right to left, my brother, my sister, my wife, me, my #2 son, my niece, my granddaughter, my sister in law, and my nephew.

Vertigo sucks! Week one was tolerable, week two was pure hell, week three better. The ENT said it should clear up in about 6 weeks. Reading is somewhat difficult and exhausting. Glad I got on better meds. The first set had terrible side effects. I have PT treatments to get the crystals moved. Have to do that daily at home, the Epley maneuver. Looks like my cameras will get a summer break sadly.
