The Coffee House

Good evening, hosers.

We are heading to Assateague again this weekend. A drive in the sand, temps are staying sweet, I have a birthday coming up, and MLSIL wants to go chill out at the beach while I do a little fishing. Seeing the wild horses is an added bonus. We'll wrap up the day at a BBQ place up in Deleware that MLW and I tried a couple years ago and liked. MLSIL even mentioned a ride on the Lewes / Cape May Ferry (Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ) but I'm not sure we;ll have that much time this trip.

I picked up an "Annual Senior All Inclusive" fishing license for $5 - a heck of a deal as it would be eight times that for the under-65 crowd. I have never done much salt water fishing, so I ordered a rod and reel. It's a lighter power than the two rigs here (both of which need a major cleaning, and re-lubrication). I'll pick up some cut bait and see what happens.
That sounds like a lot of fun! Very relaxing and nothing to do work or fixing up the house. ;) Also known as "a break in the routine."

We'll expect some pics!

Oh, yes. Maybe I'll take a sketchpad and the kiddie-set of watercolors in case the fishing doesn't pan out.

Could be the great chance to shoot the last Milky Way opportunity this year! And from a fantastic location. Search Assateague Milky Way on Instagram and you’ll see some amazing photos.

I agree but It's not likely we'll be on the beach at dark. We'll have to wait and see.

Well, the weekend plans got washed away: 98% chance of rain and thunderstorms in that area.

Today has perfect temps for the oldest grand's cross country meet. Overcast so I won't be fighting the sun for photos. Last year this time we froze on the field with artic cold winds blowing. Our summer seems extended this year.

Ugh! Once a quarter I have to spend the week driving into the office. I absolutely hate the commute. On the plus side, I can chill to music for about an hour each way. Another plus, I upgraded my car to a Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid, and it is a wonderful auto, and I'm averaging 45mpg on the commute, so at least it isn't too painful at the pump. Youngster Unit #4 walked off the job as a bartender (more than half the bar staff have walked away from the place, due to an increasingly toxic work environment), so at least we have someone at home with the pups until he decides his next move. He's considering some of the local police departments, since he was a Master at Arms in the Navy. Such is the life around here. At least the temps are in the low 90's, although a bit humid.

I’d steer him away from LEO if possible, this day and age it’s just not a pleasant job, if it ever was. Talk about toxic. I’m the only guy in my family that didn’t go into it, they all tell me I made a wise decision to not follow them in. Some of the stories I‘ve heard, you don't want to know.

Took me a minute to figure out why it would be so bad to steer someone away from me and why my name was in all caps.

Look, I had a hard day and I'm a little broken right now! 😂😭

Hosers. Just returned from a fabulous wine dinner, featuring Spanish wines and a fun menu. We seldom order any wine from these events, but the first one we went to, back in June, had us ordering 6 bottles, and tonight we did it again! Four bottles of Cava and 2 riojas.

And the setting half-moon on the drive home was large and phenomenal. A very good night, indeed.

All's well that ends well. My good speedlight decided it didn't want to work yesterday. I'd just about given up trying things, when I thought about cleaning contacts, even though they looked clean. Grabbed a pencil eraser, rubbed the contacts on the camera and flash, problem solved.

After that much wine, I'd probably be seeing " multiple" large and phenomenal moons.😎

Holy crap! We ordered a total of 6 bottles from the distributor, after this tasting at the wine dinner (where each participant might get a total of 2 full glasses, because they're in charge of pouring). It'll be delivered in about a week. Sorry I didn't make that clear. But these lovely dinners actually are good-time sales events.

I love wine, but am actually a bit of a lightweight when it comes to drinking it!

In other news, Happy Friday, hosers! :icon_sunny:

Beautiful weather in these parts, and no rain in the forecast. Anyone doing anything interesting this weekend?

@snowbear : do you have a Plan B yet?
