The Dead of Winter

This was taken with my 11-16, I'm really glad I bought this lens I am looking forward to using it this Spring for sure. I tried to really capture the dead of winter here in Ohio.

I like the gloomy tones and barrenness of this and the way that the water leads you through it. It's a bit depressing just like this winter has been, which I think was the point.

I just ordered the 11-16. Been stalking the used inventories looking for a DX II for my D5100 and finally found one this morning on BH. Really going to need to learn how to use it before an upcoming CA coast vacation.

Yeah, I picked a terrible time of year to get into landscape photography here where I live. Everything is just dull and lifeless. It has been kind of depressing other than some good sunsets and a lot of ice buildup on bodies of water, nothing exciting has really happened that I have been able to find yet. Plus the subzero temperatures haven't really helped...

Ironically the day I took this picture was the first day we have had in the last month that was bearable to be outside for more than a half hour. Still I am looking forward for things to start springing back to life to say the least. I have a trip to Hocking Hills planned for the end of this month already cant wait to get some pictures out there I'm counting down the days...
