Ahoi there!

Yesterday I already posted my picture "The Crowned Queen" and today I want to show you another shot from the same shooting series which I entitled "The Lair".

Don´t wonder about the title displayed within the picture! I always do that with images that I use in public forums/websites. Personally I like them more without the title but for safety reasons I insist placing some text within the pics.

As always any feedback is welcome! And maybe you can help me with a decision: I am thinking about printing that image on a 24x36 inches alu-dibond in museum quality (I know that might be exaggerated, but why not go crazy and get the best quality you can get for a printout that big?!) and I am still wondering if the picture is good enough to spend that much money on it?! What do you think? Of course the text will be gone in the final printversion! :)

Ok, enough talking, here´s the shot (click on it to get to the original file on my flickr stream):

Thanks!
- Peter

I don't see any reason what not. It's an impressive photograph.

like i said in the other post i really like this one. but only you can decide how much money its worth to print and frame up.

It looks outstanding to me. I absolutely love the setting and the title--a perfect harmony of title and image.

@derrel: do you think you would still like it without the title? I must admit that this image somehow looks cool with the title in it but my idea was to get rid of the title once I print it...

You know, I thin k it would look best WITH the title "The Lair", but without the model's name, and without your name. To me, the title is a critical part of the image that I saw, and that I liked. I can understand the idea of eliminating all text, but the one thing about the text as shown is that it fits over the brushy vines so,so perfectly. Like, for example, the way the text is overlayed over the dense part of the vines, and in between the word The and the word Lair, there is a thinning of the brush...that makes the text overlay seem, well, just perfectly suited for the photo!

Having the title printed right onto the image is a very "modern" convention; I personally think that having only the two words, The Lair, would make an outstanding photograph in a large format print. Removing the text overlay would change the dynamic of the photo, and would make it seem perhaps more timeless, but it would also change the "character" of the image as well.

This is beautiful work!

FWIW I like all the title details, I think it lends to a nice scale overall.

(I'm still trying to work out the lighting set up... I am pretty sure I am not getting it if she is laying down...)

Great image, and stellar lighting. I can't see why that wouldn't look great as a 24x36. With the title & text, it looks (and I thought it was until I read further) the cover of a book. Well shot!

ok, so right now it looks like I am going to print it... with the title! :) thanks for all the good feedback!

Safety? Seriously? Do you REALLY feel more safe like this? Maybe you should read something about internet security then.
First rule is "you CAN'T prevent anyone from stealing your stuff the moment you put them on the internet". Yes, you can make it harder for them, but if someone really wants to steal, he'll do that in a blink of an eye...

I would understand such text on a poster for a movie, magazine or something like that, but for safety reasons? Come on...

The photo itself is nice and will make a nice print.

true! I know that using a simple title is actually not making my shots any saver, but at least you cannot just use the image as it appears without showing the model and the photographer :) of course anyone with some photoshop knowledge will be able to get rid of the title in an instance but I think adding some little titles is better than just doing nothing :) the main reason I did this though was for my facebook uploads since facebook is having these funny rules which allow them to use all uploaded pics. since they are only allowed to use what you upload and not any modified version of it they will have to use the pics with the titles! but to be honest: has anyone ever seen facebook using pics of users?! :)

ah, just seen that a webzine uses one of my pics! that´s a perfect example that will proof that adding a title is not a waste of time: Photo Friday: 30 Great Pictures #8 (the title picture and the first one on top of the others is one of mine!)

There is no reason to make things easy for the crooks!:gun:

....so was she sitting up in a sort of perch, or was she laying down...I'm very confused.

she was sitting down, a little bit layed back and I was standing right in front of her photographing top down (so that my angle was parallel to her body).
