Not bad, I like some of these shots. For me the stand out is number 5 because of that little wry smile look that clarinet player gives in tandem with how you composed him as a subject in that shot. I liked the angle you took for shot number 4 as well but not so much for number 1 cos I thought the lighting was a bit too harsh. I think I have some idea what you were going for the first shot, but I thought it could have benefited from a little filtering or perhaps a little shielding. Was it supposed to evoke the attention traditionally given to lead singers? If so, then I suppose I'm being a little harsh here, and you can take my views with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, this is a nice little collection, and it benefited from you being able to get groupie access to shoot these pics. ;)

thanks for the comments!
Regarding number 1, I wanted to have the light opposite instead of traditionaly taking the side of the face that gets the more light.
It was easy to take photos as they are former schoolmate but I was a bit tipsy by the end of the show i should say :)

Haha, fair enough, I can understand where you're coming from there. I don't think the fact that you were tipsy at the end affected your shots though, a mark of a true pro, right? :1247:

well in a way better being tipsy than having to dodge blows, crowd surfer and pickpockets!

Haha. Wouldn't being tipsy leave you vulnerable to the pickpockets though? At least I know what to look out for if ever I wanna enjoy a band in Paris.

pickpockets are mainly operating in metal/punk/hardcore shows with crowded and moving pit, make it easier to still stuff. Got a mobile phone that was tied to my trouser stolen, and almost one of my wallet that was tied as well.....

but you see dozen of people looking for their stuff during the show, that's quite sad

Yeah it really is quite sad considering the spirit of the event everyone was attending. One alternative is one of those pouches you can fasten to yourself under your clothing - possibly along with a band/chain tied to the wallet and phone. I also knew someone who just stashed important stuff like cash and in one of those little pouches that you can fit in your underwear...though I imagine you'd have to rave with a different kind of discomfort. :allteeth:

It's a pretty decent set of images, I like the first two. I know what it's like shooting in the small clubs and you worked around the limitations really well. Good use of the light, I'm sure these guys would be really happy with these shots. Good shoot.
