Aim it, Frame it and shoot it.

If your into photography you see something you believe will make a good shot you go for it. Your mind seems to instantly work through the image, but its not a set of questions. You know where you want to stand for the shot, if the flash should be on or off, and go for it. So the mental questions should answered before you ever pull the camera up to your face. I don't take a lot of images for me. As a youngster I shot with film and learned quickly to avoid wasting shots. It could be costly. I hadn't shot in over 25 years, but it's the same with the digital age - my shooting style hasn't change, I may take two or three with different framing and that it. I don't want to sit at the computer digging through 100's of shots that almost look a like. There's just no point in taking 20 or 30 images of the same thing. It's like hoping you got the shot. Action shots are different and I may snap away as needed. It's harder to frame the shot.

Great feedback here. Will have to see if i'm missing any questions to ask myslef?

I look for comp, exposure and focus. But i screw up a lot. I'm more of the 'spray and pray' type of tog. Back in the day though could not do much spraying. so had to get something down with 1,2 or maybe 3 shots.

Well, can be kinda weird, but, in my head when i like look to something to shoot, thinking the tittle to give to that photo helps me a lot, because i think what elements are important in my composion to include or not include...

I think this at the same time i think what is the message i want to transmit...

I think it makes more sense to dedicate your concentration to what is going on visually, rather than having a noisy dialog with yourself about how the image may or may not be accepted.

I agree, get one good shot, there's no need for taking hundreds. You will get better shots if you spend 30 seconds thinking about how to compose and expose it properly than if you take 50 shots from the same angle in two minutes.

I find it very difficult to remember all of what has been stated here, wise advise to say the least...I keep telling myself that one day, I say one day these questions will become automatic, I'll know what settings should be in place based on the light, the subject, etc. Believe me that day can't arrive soon enough. Sometimes it's like closing your eyes and hoping for the best, cept that doesn't work real well! Every once in a while I get it right, lucky guess or whatever the camera Gods decided to bless me with that day. My delight when a shot actually works based on all the decisions I made, is worth every struggling footstep I take towards reaching my goals.

thats not a dialog, you do it once twice, and after some experience with this thoughts you can respond this questions almosts automatically...
