These two California Gulls were doing battle on top of the carcass of a dead Elephant Seal (seen in the bottom of the photograph). You can see a spot of blood between the bills of the birds if view the photo in full size.

Thanks for the feedback! I shot it with a Tamron 200-500 through a D300. Goofy Exif data. My distance was 20 yards, maybe? I shoot RAW and convert through Lightroom.

Woohooo!! welcome to the forum I shoot a Nikon d300 and a Tamron 200-500 also!

Thanks! Buuuuut.... I'm ditching the 200-500 in favor of the Nikon 200-400 VR II and I recently upgraded to the D3s. I am keeping the D300 because for what it is, it's an awesome camera.
