What's new

This is what I surfaced with..

Love the first shot like everyone else! When I saw it, I knew exactly what it was. We have a sculpture garden also and they have a similar sculpture there. Kind of jealous you can walk INTO yours, there's no opening in ours :(

Probably by the same artist! There are also some sculptures by the lady who does the Drift Wood Horses that are really cool but I couldn't get a good picture at the time because of a wall right behind them and the way the sun was positioned.

The second is nice, but the highlights are a bit too intense. Try backing off on them and then making them stand out by darkening the shadows and mid-tones on the wall.

Thanks I will play around with it more when I get home from work and see what I can come up with!

I'm not coming up with much better--I'm pretty new to the editing software I have (the software that came with the camera Digital Photo Professional and Gimp) so I think I'm going to have to work on that.

I used photoshop back in high school in a bunch of art classes but that was 6 years ago! I'll man up and buy it again some time in the not too far future.

Love the first one.

The only way I would like it more is if I took it.

Of course then it would't have turned out as well.

Well I love them. Good for you!

The park area looks like lots of potential for some fun stuff.

The small waterfall intrigues me, the movement is eyecatching. Can this be framed differently? Were you shooting tight because of 'other' stuff you did not want to see?
Maybe shoot it in portrait, or stand back and open the compositon, with an unorthodox crop later.

I do have some pictures that are backed out a bit but yes ran into the problem of "other things" getting in the way. Will have to continue to play around with some of the backed out ones to see if I can make anything interesting out of them. Thanks for the suggestion I'm sure I will go back again!

Here is one that is slightly different..but I'm not sure I like it either.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I actually really enjoy shooting sculptures, they offer so many opportunities.

But...
This is awesome, I love the water and angles... The balance from the left to right side, the falls. The shimmer in the falls themselves, just great work.

This is more of what I was looking for from the original image. The repeating lines are really interesting. I just think some more adventure is required to find THE spot, the RIGHT focal length and the CORRECT time of day. Everything else is handed to you. This is a scene that deserves study........ and many, many shots IMO.

i like #1... almost looks like some graphic art...
