LOL !!!

Please note that the following poll is for DX lenses. I’ve tried to build a set of choices that are the DX equivalents of common FX lenses up through mild telephoto, where the DX image circle size advantage begins to disappear and you might as well use an FX lens. Yes, I know you can’t see the results to this poll after you vote. I’ll present the results after the poll concludes on Thursday. Please think carefully about your answer, and note that you only get one chance to vote. Vote for as many as you’d actually buy.

Which of these DX lenses would you buy if produced by Nikon?
10-16mm f/4 (or faster)
12mm f/2.8 (or faster)
12-24mm f/4 replacement
14mm f/2.8 (or faster)
16mm f/2 (or faster)
16-50mm f/2
17-50mm f/2.8 replacement with VR
24mm f/2.8 pancake
35mm f/1.4
35mm f/2.8 pancake
50-135mm f/2.8
50-135mm f/4
58mm f/1.8 (or faster)
Wide angle Tilt-Shift lens
Well, thats easy: none at all, because I no longer have a DX DSLR.

... but the first two lenses that Nikon IMHO REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY should make, would be:

10-16mm f/4.5-5.6 - cheap wide angle lens of high quality, as answer to Canons EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS, the lens I keep mentioning as the one advantage of Canon over Nikon
24mm f1.8 or f1.4 - 35mm equivalent as the most important focal length for prime lens fans

And thats interestingly what Hogan did NOT mention. He only wants some bright f/4 or better 10-16mm zoom and some dark pancake 24mm. Why ? I have no clue.

Picked me up a tokina 11-16 f/2.8 zoom on sale for $359.00.

The lens is VERY prone to flare, but a nice lens still.

Well i'd buy the 14-24 crop equivalent, which is the Sigma 8-16mm. While i dont have a lot of faith for nikon to deliver on this lens, sigma may come out with a art line of this very soon.

That's a enjoyable lens. I had a lot of fun with it while i had it. here is a timelaps i made with it:

and no, this was not taken with a phone. the time i shot this i wasn't even aware that phones took pictures like this. xD i just wanted to get the top most parts of the building in the shot.

Apparently I'm really, really, really, really bad at predicting what DX users want:

Desirable DX Lenses According to You | DSLRBodies | Thom Hogan

10-16mm f4 or faster - 13% - What the .. ? Isnt there already a 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 around ? What does a 10-16mm f4 have that I'm missing ?
16-50mm f2 - 11% - OMG really ? Theres people who would buy such a honk of a glas ?!?
50-135mm f2.8 - 11% - Sure, makes sense
17-50mm f2.8 VR - 10% - Sure
24mm f2.8 Pancake - 9% - I still think people would prefer a f1.8 or f1.4 over a pancake, though
16mm f2 - 8% - Sure
58mm f1.8 - 6% - Sure
12mm f2.8 - 6% - Sure
50-135mm f4 - 5% - ... no VR ?
Wide angle tilt/shift - 5% - Sure
14mm f2.8 or faster - 5% - Sure
12-24mm f4 replacement - 5% - I guess the performance of the original is disappointing ?
35mm f2.8 pancake - 3% - I dont get why anyone would need a replacement for the 35mm f1.8 DX, which IMHO basically already IS a pancake
35mm f1.4 - 3% - If the price is right, this indeed would sell well
