Cameras of today have more in common with electronics than the mechanical wonders Derrel refers to.... it's premature to discount a brand based on being an electronics company historically
and for years and years both Canon and Nikon had the similar small market when MF dominated the professional photo market. 35mm was considered a toy format. Any new format of today will take a while to gain market.... just like it took a while for 35mm
I predict that both Canon and Nikon will need to reexamine their offerings which are currently based on historical designs.
Leica abandoned their R system in part for the same reason....
