Thread used for camera mounting hole

I'm building a mounting adaptor for my camera and i've been trying to find out the details of the type of bolt i'll need to get that screws into the standard mounting hole supplied on most cameras. Does anyone know what size it is? i think it's a 1/4" but the thread looks too thin on all the 1/4" bolts i've seen. Can anyone help?

yes, 1/4-20 I believe

Just check B&H and 1/4-20 is the most common for 35mm, some medium formats use 3/8-16
