These pics were taken by me in a zoo...with Panasonic DMC FZ28...All the pics are centered and I know most of the people here dont like it.. but still criticism would be helpful.. 1) I know the white part is blown off.. how could I have avoided it if it wastaken in sunlight...I like the ripples and reflection in this pic.. what do u guys think..?? 2) The same thing with a different angle 3) For this pic I like the ripples in water.. shadows on the body of the duck..and the clarity taking into considerations a SLR like camera...
You've already mentioned the two main issues I see with the images, centred subjects and blown highlights. With respect to the issue of resolving the blown highlights, there are a couple of options. One is simply to decrease your exposure; shoot in manual and choose an aperture or shutter speed one full stop over what the camera recommends, then detail with the shadows in post with the use of levels/curve adjustments. Your best option would be however to shoot a different time of day (if possible), earlier in the morning, or later in the evening when you have a better light. Overall, nice pictures, especially given how difficult shooting in a zoo can be.
