I think they were all one stroke but that's are far as I know.

Cool! I read the article and learned a lot more than I ever knew about the hit and miss engine type! I've seen and heard them at Antique Powerland...pretty cool sounding engines.

I agree with cropping the right side of the frame (though not the bottom sliver - it cuts off the wheel a little bit at the bottom).

The man in the hat is too cute for words.

Yes, now you have a good three-way balance, with the eye going from the guy with the hat, following his gaze to the man on his left, and following that man's gaze to the machinery, and that flows back to the original man.

They're "one-lung" "Hit and miss" engines - one lung = one cylinder, hit and miss is a style of governing whereby when the engine reaches a set RPM, a lever holds open the exhaust valve to prevent combustion from taking place until the speed drops.
