Tips and Critiques Please

As I'm still in the early stages of my photography learning, I'd love to get some tips on composition, lighting, etc...from more advanced photographers. I'm living in Germany now so there's a wealth of beautiful places to visit. This weekend I was up a mountain and walking on a frozen lake and these 3 were I think, the best shots I came away with. I'd love some more advice on composition, using depth of field, etc...Thank you everybody.

Gotta say I'm a little jealous that you live in such a gorgeous locale. One suggestion I would have is to try to pull some more detail out of the first two. The mountains just look a bit dark.

As far as getting more detail, what would you suggest on doing that? Using a higher number aperture? I'm from New York City, my fiancee is here in Germany so I moved over about 6 months ago. It's beautiful here.

Are you using any sort of photo editing programs? If you shoot in raw you could use your curve levels to brighten the shadows. Even in JPEG you will have some play in the dynamic range.
Your could also use the bracketing on your camera to take mutiple pictures at different exposure levels (for future pics). Some cameras even have a HDR mode to automatically compile phots into one shot. To do this the best option would be a tripod or a really steady hand with a VR lens.

I have lightroom and photoshop but I'm really, really new to using those so I'm working on figuring those out. I shoot everything in RAW now. I have a tripod I use normally but it was hard to really place it on the frozen lake with dozens of people skating around everywhere. I'm still trying to learn exactly how to use the bracketing
