To use flash or not to use flash during the fashion show

I wonder whether or not is appropriated to use flash during the fashion show. I saw other photographers using flashes, but I found it detracting. If I used flash, I might distorted the colors and the ambient lighting. I shot about 300 photos last night, if with flash on, that would be 300 flashes in one fashion show. I would have annoyed a lot of spectators. I looked at one photographer's photos in her dslr, and the colors maintained the same when she used a flash. I don't know how she did that.

Check with the show manager for the photography rules at this event. Normally good fashion shows have professional lighting so you will not need flash at all.
