Well the new 85mm F/1.8 arrived this week and I finally got a chance to make it to the zoo.

I've found the 85 mm to be almost an ideal focal length for a lot of zoo shots, and much easier to carry than the 70-200 mm F/2.8.

The F/1.8 was fantastic, gave me plenty of light to work with for a lot of the indoor shots, and it is really sharp when the lens is stopped down just a bit:

All in all I'm very impressed, this particular lens is definitely a keeper.
