Total beginner just having purchased a D7000 and I need a wide angle lens for doing shots or our Orlando vacation rental homes. I have been recommended two lenses:

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8
Nikkor 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 ED

Which do you think is the better choice>

I would go for the Tokina; I'm a dedicated Nikononian, but this lens is faster and by all accounts, every bit as good, if not better optically, than Nikon equivalents.

From what i have read and heard, i am pretty sure the tokina is better than the nikon (between those two lenses). Not only do you have a constant 2.8 aperture, but i have heard it is just a better lens.

Regards,
Jake

Tokina hands down.

I have not played with either one, but EVERYONE is raving about the lens.

Good luck finding a Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8 you can actually buy, new.

You may have to persue one on the used market.

i just bought a new tokina 11-16 at amazon
still need to get my lazy butt out in the snow to shoot with it

are you selling or is it timeshare

Ok just shot some interiors with the tokina. Hand held standing on a chair.

Going to grab my tripod and shoot again. Not liking the darkened corners. Bad lens?

does that tokina fit on a d40?

I got the Tokina on BHPhoto 2 months ago new with no problems. After reading a lot, I came to the conclusion that it was the better lens. I can tell you i LOVE it. Incredibly sharp pictures. It focuses fast, and it's very well built!
