Traveling to China - Visa Question

So it looks like I'll be going to China in a few months. My old roommate from college is getting married and I'll be headed out to attend the wedding and then hang out for a few weeks. Right now though, I'm working on getting my entry paperwork together and have a question for any of you who might have gone through this process...

It looks like there is no way to apply for the visa by mail or internet, so I have to have someone walk into the consulate on my behalf with my application and passport. I know there are companies out there that provide this service. Considering I'll be mailing my passport to these people I'd like to make sure I'm working with someone who can be relied upon. Have any of you gone through this and know a company that you trust?

Other then this Visa stuff, I'm stoked!!! My camera is hungry.
