Tripod vs. Monopod

Yes I own both tripod and monopod but the OP was asking about using this for a wedding. Am I missing something?

The only time I use a tripod at a wedding is when I do a specialized shot (long shutter finger painting). Other than that, I can't think of why you need one at a wedding. If you use survey 10 wedding photographers, I am willing to bet 9 of 10 do not use a tripod or monopod at a wedding.

I think you would be surprised.
i would also be willing to bet that 9 out of 10 wedding photographers still OWN a tripod and monopod, since they MIGHT shoot things other than weddings.

he wont know what he needs until he starts shooting weddings.
and he wont know how useful or not useful those things are unless he actually has them to try for himself.
better to have them and only need them occasionally, than to need them one time and not have them.
I have had several occasions where I used a tripod at a wedding. IE: formal portraits with large wedding parties all getting individual pictures in the same area. Maybe you are a strapping young lad with great camera holding techniques, but there are just some times where us old men need a little extra help. plus, he said he had problems with camera shake. a monopod might be a good solution for that if other holding techniques are not working well for him. I dont use either the tripod or monopod at every event. but i bring them to every event.

maybe 9 out of 10 wedding photographers dont use a monopod or tripod at weddings...I still bet #10 is damn glad to have that equipment available. I know I am.
