I keep getting this shadow at the bottom of my pictures, I can't figure it out I'm a newbie! Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong... I just got my external flash and it wasnt doing this at first maybe I messed up my settings on my camera? IDK!

Lens/hood is prolly blocking part of the flash. Is the shape/location of the shadow the same every time? Got an example?

external flash--shadow--hmmm--sounds like maybe the shutter speed is too fast, causing an incomplete synchronization. Perhaps try shooting at slower shutter speed, like 1/125 when using the external flash.
