So I purchased understanding exposure off of amazon this past week. I'm going to the beach this weekend so I was hoping to have it in time to do some reading while relaxing at the beach. I get home today and find a package sitting on my porch . This usually would be a good thing however sometime between the mail lady dropping off the book and me getting home there was a strong storm. The package was completely soaked!! The cardboard box the book came in fell apart when I picked it up. The pages of the book looked like a pre-teen with an adult magazine.

Ofcourse when I get home its 4:57pm. I have 3 minutes to get to the post office roughly 7 minutes away. I get there and everything is locked up. I refuse to leave until I speak with someone so I basically drum on the door until someone comes and show them my package.

They take my name and number and the Post master will call me on Monday so I don't have my book for the beach, and I'm guessing I'll have to wait until the post office replaces my book.

I'm really glad it was only my book that was ruined. My wife gets hand painted art coming in all the time and that stuff would not be replaceable.

I'm just having a hard time with why they dropped it off. They give me those postcards saying this wont fit in your box all the time b/c of magazines and junk mail and they decide to leave a package on my doorstep.

Sorry my post is long and I am rambling.......

Good luck with that, the post office employees are lazy and slow, and that will never change because, no matter what, there will always be the usps. No one can push them out. Any other company has to fight to stay ahead, in fear that the competition company is working just as hard or harder. But the usps is the 1 and only and will be that way forever.

Does your local library have a copy? That's where I'd go if I wanted a copy to read and I didn't have one.

That sucks about your book. Check the library for a copy, or some other book on that subject.

^^^ This!

I, for one, can't wait 'til the US government can run all the important aspects of our society, like transportation, credit and banks, cuz darn it, they're doing such a great job with everything else they've tried to run over the last 25 years. *&%$ing socialists. :twak:

Damn that sucks... Id definitely give the post master a piece of my mind.. And tell him "since your postal workers are lazy pieces of Sh*t...and decided to dump off my package in an unprotected environment...my package and its contents are ruined. You will be replacing it."

Ive had something to this extent happen to me not long ago... except mine was a large box of pictures and keepsakes sent from out of state un expected and left on the porch during monsoon season for a week in the horrible weather. Took me 3 weeks to get a hold of the postmaster...made me so mad.

Its a good book.. i went and rented that from the library a few weeks ago.. still reading it...

sorry for your mishap :-/

I understand all the Post Office bashing, but if it's only a book, Big Brown will leave it on your doorstep as well. These days they only require a signature if it's electronic/computer, or over a certain $ amount. I think FedEx is the only one who still requires a signature for everything.
