Upgrading Lenses

I am looking for a suggestion as to what lens makers I might consider when upgrading my lenses for me canon 20D (soon to be 60d). I have a variety of lenses that I use for things like weddings, engagement photos, as well as my own personal art. I have always purchased the the Tamron Di-II lenses as they were all I could afford. I am at the point where I would like to invest some real money into upgrading my lenses ($2000 to start with) and was looking for suggestions as to what brands where the best. Should purchases higher end Canon lenses or is there another company I should be checking out. I appreciate any help. Thank you

As far as lenses that are made to work/fit with your camera, I think that the Canon lenses will offer the best quality (although, maybe not the best value).

The Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS is a favorite among wedding photographers who use cameras with this format.
